Looking to update your window display for the upcoming patriotic holidays? We can help! Here are a few tips on how you can dress up your window display to inspire, captivate, and encourage sales.

Window Display Know-How
We love a beautiful window display. For new customers, window display advertising is often the first point of contact they will have with your business. For your current clientele, your retail display is a great way to help strengthen and solidify your relationship with your business and encourage returning business. All in all, we believe that a well put together shop window display is a great way to communicate your brand story.

If you’re looking to keep your window display fresh and summery, we’ve got you covered with high quality materials able to withstand natural elements like sun exposure, wind, and more. Here we’re using deco mesh, ribbon, and our Mannequin Madness dress form!
Quality Window Display Supplies
- Deco Mesh | Deco mesh is great for window displays because it is flexible, easy to work with, and keeps its structure. It is a must-have among visual merchandisers and installation artists.
- Ribbon | Ribbons are an easy way to accent and embellish for a big impact. We love them because they are available in a variety of materials, textures, and patterns.

Finding A Balance Between Inspiring & Approachable
Often, retail display advertising can feature large scale and extravagant creations. While this can inspire your customers, it does have the potential to overwhelm them as well. To help keep your display and brand voice approachable, we recommend adding small elements to your display that can be easily made at home.
Using our summery patriotic display as an example, we pulled out all the stops and got extra creative with our starry embellished deco mesh skirt and custom-made woven ribbon bodice. To help keep the look accessible, we included an easy to make deco mesh ribbon. This way, our customers can still be driven to create on a smaller scale from the comfort of their own homes.
How We Made Our Woven Ribbon Bodice

You’ll Need
- 2-1/2” and 1-1/2” Red Trevia Taffeta Wired Ribbon
- 2 1/2′ ‘ White Cast-Over Wired Satin Ribbon
- Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
- Clothing Pins
How To Make A Custom Bodice For Your Mannequin
- Start by creating the general framework for your bodice. Take one end of your white ribbon and fit it around the waist of your dressmaker form. Trim any excess ribbon and secure the edges using your hot glue gun. This piece will be the edge of your bodice and help anchor down the ribbon body.
- Next, we’ll form the V-neck, bodice neckline. Starting from the center of your form, take the edge of your 2-1/2” red ribbon and pin it in place. Then gently drape it up and over the right shoulder and bring it towards the back center of your form’s waist. Once your ribbon has reached the waist center, pin it in place and trim the excess. Repeat with a second red ribbon strand going towards the left shoulder. Once your neckline shape is complete, use your hot glue gun to attach the red ribbon edges to your bodice edge.
- To form the front weave pattern of our bodice, trim your 1-1/2” red ribbon into strips. For best results, trim strips based on the length of your dressmaker torso.
Tip: For each side of our bodice, we trimmed 6 strips of red ribbon.- One (1), 5” strip of ribbon
- One (1), 7” strip of ribbon
- Four (4), 9” strips of ribbon
- Use these strips to create a woven pattern on the right side of your bodice. Pin each strip in place. Repeat on the left side of your bodice.
- Once your bodice sides are created, use your hot glue gun to secure the ribbon edges to the red ribbon neckline and white ribbon bodice bottom. Trim excess ribbon edges.
Here’s How We Made Our Deco Mesh Necklace Accessory

You’ll Need
- White Iridescent & Red Decorative Mesh Tubing
- Royal Premium Fabric Satin Ribbon
- Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
- Clear Wire
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Scissors
How To Make A Pretty Deco Mesh Necklace
- First, prep the base of your necklace. Using your ribbon and ruler, measure out the length of your necklace. This length measurement is dependent on the circumference of your mannequin neck.
Tip: When dressing up a window display, it is better to give yourself as much material to work with as possible, so you’ll notice in our Deco Mesh Necklace Video Tutorial that we gave ourselves a little more than the necessary ribbon length and trimmed back any of the excess once we positioned it on our mannequin. - Next, begin to create your red and white mesh spray detail. Using a strip of decorative mesh tubing, your ruler, and scissors, cut your tubing into small, workable pieces. Use your ruler to keep your length of tubing consistent.
- After your tubing has been cut out, gather them in a bundle and use your clear wire to secure tightly around the center. The edges of your tubing will naturally fan out into a spray shape.
- Finally, take your ribbon and locate the center. Use your hot glue gun to affix your deco mesh spray onto the center of your ribbon.
